Abstract
Abstract: In the context of a 2-D linearized version of wave-structure interaction theory, the interaction of ocean waves with a “flexible sort of vertical porous membrane wave barrier” deployed over an undulating seabed is analyzed. The “interaction of waves” with a “submerged permeable vertical membrane” is described using a straightforward framework. For numerical solution, boundary element method (BEM) has been used, and for analytical solution, the eigenfunction expansion method has been used. In the BEM, since the membrane's boundary condition is unknown prior to it, “membrane motions” and “velocity potentials” are simultaneously solved. The performance of “bottom-standing, surface-piercing”, and completely “extended membrane wave barriers” is examined for numerous structural and wave characteristics using the standard conceptualization of “submerged membrane barrier”. The effectiveness of several types of membrane wave barriers can all be enhanced by waves under certain designing conditions. Based on research into numerous membrane attributes and designs, it can be wind up further that if it is precisely designed, a membrane wave barrier may operate as a highly efficient breakwater.
